Work Visa
A Malaysian work visa enables expatriates and foreign nationals to carry out work and employment in Malaysia for a specific period of time. The approval of this document is mandatory for all expatriates aiming to work in Malaysia legally.
There are various types of work visas available, depending on variables such as salary, period of employment, qualifications etc. The main forms of work visas include:
● Employment Pass (EP): Typically issued for employees with specific skill sets such as technical or managerial positions; Has a valid employment contract of minimum 5 years.
● Temporary Employment Pass (TEP): This pass is issued to expatriates with an employment position of less than 2 years AND/OR salary of less than RM5000.
● Professional Visit Pass (PVP): This pass is issued on a temporary basis (maximum 12 months). Applicants typically apply for this work permit when they remain employed by an organization in their home country but are required to visit Malaysia for work purposes.
In order to be eligible to apply for a Malaysian work permit, the candidate must also fulfill certain criteria, including:
● Candidates must be 27 years old and above (There is an exception in the IT sector, where applicants are required to be a minimum of 23 years of age).
● Applicants must have a valid passport, with a remaining validity of 18 months.

To ensure a smooth and hassle-free application experience, applicants must prepare the following documents ahead of time:
● A valid passport (with a remaining 18 months validity)
● Official education certificates/transcripts
● Past employment testimonials
● 2 recent colour photographs (passport size)
● Detailed description of the type of work to be performed by the candidate in Malaysia
● Company’s employment letter
